Group Project #4 Prototyping and Evaluation

Introduction
Welcome to our Project 4 prototyping and evaluation. We present the result of our testing and user feedback analysis conducted on the prototype. The usability testing for our prototype took place on 25 June 2025 on online platform WeBex for user 1, 26 June 2025 on online platform for user 2, and lastly on 27 June 2025 physically interview at Tun Dr. Ismail’s UTM residential college. The equipment used during the interview are laptop, smartphone, and screen recorder. Participants were asked to complete several tasks, such as browsing and requesting an item, adding a new item, like and comment on a Climate’s post. A total of 3 participants were involved in the testing. Each group member was responsible for guiding a different user during the session.
Testing for User 1 was handled by MIRZA AS-SIDDIQ BIN TOHARI
Testing for User 2 was handled by AHMAD IRFAN BIN AZAHAN
Testing for User 3 was handled by MUHAMMAD UMAR RUSYAD BIN SHAHRUL IZZAN

Briefing notes – prepared by {MUHAMMAD ADAM ASHRAFF BIN ZAMRI} User 1 1. Welcome the user Hi! Thank you for joining today’s test session. 2. Briefing (purpose and background) You’ll be testing a prototype called Climate Community. It helps people reduce waste by sharing, lending, selling, or requesting items. As a parent, this app might help you find or give away baby clothes, toys, or family items. You’ll do 3 short tasks. This isn’t a test for you, we’re testing the app. Please speak your thoughts out loud as you go. If you get stuck, just say “terminate.” 3. Obtain verbal consent Do I have your permission to record your screen and voice for research? 4. Prepare a card of the tasks and give it to the interviewee 5. Observe and record the session 6. Post-test questions: ● What was easy? ● What was difficult? ● When would you use this app? ● Did anything feel missing? 7. Thank the user Thanks so much for your help and feedback. User 2 1. Welcome the user Hi! Thanks for being here today. 2. Briefing (purpose and background) You’ll test a prototype of Climate Community. It’s an app for sharing or requesting items, tools, materials, anything reusable. As an architect, this could help you share or find supplies for projects. You’ll complete 3 tasks. This is not a test of your skills, we’re testing the system. Please speak aloud what you're thinking. If you can’t finish, just say “terminate.” 3. Obtain verbal consent Can I record your screen and voice during the session? 4. Prepare a card of the tasks and give it to the interviewee 5. Observe and record the session 6. Post-test questions: ● What worked well? ● What was unclear? ● Would you use this app in your work? ● What could be improved? 7. Thank you Thanks again! Your input is very valuable. User 3 1. Welcome the user Hi! Welcome and thank you for helping us today. 2. Briefing (purpose and background) You’ll be testing Climate Community, a sharing app. It’s useful for finding or giving away items, especially helpful for groups doing community work. You’ll complete 3 short tasks. This is not a test of you, it’s a test of our design. Please talk through what you’re thinking. If you get stuck, say “terminate.” 3. Obtain verbal consent Is it okay to record your screen and voice for usability testing? 4. Prepare a card of the tasks and give it to the interviewee 5. Observe and record the session 6. Post-test questions: ● What was smooth? ● What was frustrating? ● When would you use this in your organization? ● What features were missing? 7. Show appreciation Thank you so much! We really appreciate your time and feedback

Observations - prepared by{MUHAMMAD ADAM ASHRAFF BIN ZAMRI & MUHAMMAD HAFIZ BIN REEPEI} When testing user 1 with the first task (Browse and Request an Item), she successfully browsed and requested an item in the home page and she pressed the request button straightforwardly without pressing other unnecessary buttons. For the second task(Add New Item To Giveaway, or Lend, or Sell), she explored the navigation bar to find the donate, request and sell options and she discovered it is in the “+” option. Then she chose to donate an item and submit the item without difficulty. For the last task(Like and Comment on a User’s Post in Climate’s Community), she navigated the community option in the navigation bar and took time to read the posts thoroughly. She proceeds to comment on the first post and does not have any problem submitting the comment. She praised the like and comment feature and noticed that it was straightforward and had a user-friendly interface. When testing for user 2, the user couldn’t finish the first task ( Browse and Request an Item). Instead of browsing by scrolling the homepage, the user used the search bar input to browse and complained about how she couldn’t key-in data through the keyboard on the search bar input to browse the item. For the second task ( Add New Item To Giveaway, or Lend, or Sell), The user did the right thing by pressing the “+” button right away to execute the task. However, she is still complaining about how the keyboard is not functioning for her to insert details on the listing interface. She did not press the submit button and terminate the task, thus leaving the task undone. Next, the user proceeds to do the Task 3 (Like and Comment on a User’s Post in Climate’s Community). The user did well navigating to the community section by pressing it on the Community button on the bottom menu bar in the interface. The user pressed the symbol-like button and then proceeded to comment. The user terminates the Task before submitting the comment, thus the task is incomplete. For the third user, the user did the Task 1 ( Browse and Request an Item) easily and successfully pressed the “Request Button”. For the Task 2 ( Add New Item To Giveaway, or Lend, or Sell), he was unable to do the task correctly, as he struggled to press the button to execute the Task 2. Instead, he did Task 1 again and skipped Task 2. Continue to Task 3 (Like and Comment on a User’s Post in Climate’s Community), The user successfully navigates to the Community section, and proceeds to like the post and submit the comment on the post. Findings - prepared by{MUHAMMAD ADAM ASHRAFF BIN ZAMRI, MUHAMMAD HAFIZ BIN REEPEI, MUHAMMAD UMAR RUSYAD BIN SHAHRUL IZZAN, AHMAD IRFAN BIN AZAHAN, MIRZA AS-SIDDIQ BIN TOHARI} 1. System user interface is too simple ● Solution: provide better visual cues or labelling to ensure the users know what they are browsing. 2. System have problem when adding an item ● Solution: create a better user interface to add an item by removing pop ups and making a bigger intuitive selection box. 3. System do not have a notification to alert the user ● Solution: adding a notification bell icon on the top-right corner of the interface that can alert the user or combine it with the message section. 4. System do not support draft listings ● Solution: adding a draft function for users to automatically save the information when they exit the system and update the draft after opening back the system. 5. System do not provide owner details for quick recognition ● Solution: adding owner profile in the “Add” section to help the users to recognize the owners without messaging them manually.
